I found out about Blogger back in my first year of college. I was sick of the Myspace blog scene and a bunch of friends had started up in Blogger, and here I am.

October
I know it's supposed to be all about scary stuff or whatever, so I guess it seems appropriate that my past chose October to come back and haunt me.
There's this cycle that seems to happen: you know people, people go away, you move on, people remind you that you know them, you have to figure out a way to balance that in your new life. Repeat.
There is an upside to all this. I'm reminded of who I was. I think back to that girl and where she was in her life. Would she be happy to see where she is now? Do I still feel the way she did back then? It's pleasant to be reminded that I'm still this same person, and it's never too late to revert to old ways of being.

Catching Up
It's been a long time since I posted about what's going on in my life so I figured I'd get on that.
I posted a while ago that I was working at Overstock.com. That is no longer. I was there maybe a month? I hated it. I didn't like coming home every night feeling like crap because of customers being upset and taking it out on me. I went around to a zillion vet clinics (I kid you not. A zillion.) to fill out appliciations. I got an interview at one clinic but it didn't work out.
I did, however, get a job at a cute local store called The Dog's Meow. It won a Best of Utah award from City Weekly for Best Holistic Cat Food. It's a store that sells healthy, natural food for dogs and cats as well as accessories. I LOVE it. I can't even begin to explain how happy I am. It's such a wonderful feeling doing something that relates to what you love and what you want to do in life. I leave work thinking, "so this is what it feels like to love what you do."
It's only part time though. I traded down, pay wise. I guess I can honestly answer that question that pops up on quizzes, you know the one: would you quit the job you hate for a job you love with lesser pay? Or something like that.
I'm in school part time. I'm ONE credit away from being full time. I was only going to take two classes but I learned that next semester I can get my letter of completion if I take three classes in spring. I'M SO CLOSE TO ACCOMPLISHING SOMETHING! It's been hard taking care of all this school business though. Financial aid and books and homework and blahblahblah. I'm loving every second of it though!
I've been awesome at being social too. I hang out with people now, I never used to do that (except in high school). And I lost 7 pounds.

Career Choices
I was at the gym yesterday and a commercial for the ASPCA came on tv. Ususally those commercials are supposed to make you really sad. In my case, a huge grin spread across my face.
It's such an amazing feeling knowing what you want to do with your life. I am aiming for veterinary school, and I want to help in animal shelters and with animal physical therapy. And maybe work in a zoo. I want to work with big cats.
There was an article I read today about a cat undergoing hydrotherapy. WAY TO GO, CAT! One day I hope I can do this :)

TooDay
1. This weekend was epic. I DROVE FROM SALT LAKE TO PHOENIX. BY MYSELF. It was exhausting and exhilirating.
2. I honestly love it here. It's weird looking around and not seeing mountains but an endless city.
3. It's HOT. But I like it. I was so done with being cold. People keep saying, "you'll come to hate it!" and I just don't see that happening.
4. I have a job interview todayyyy I really hope something good comes from it.
5. After said interview, I'm going to get my bangs cut because they are driving me crazy. Poor timing for a hair cut haha.
6. I spent Saturday and Sunday at my aunt Wendy's house in the middle of the desert. It took forever to drive there, and I got lost on the way back. But I like staying at her house because I feel like a princess.
7. Emily and I did a bunch of apartment shopping yesterday at Target. We got super sweet deals.
8. I've been going to bed at 11 and waking up at 9. I guess that's what happens when you live with your grandpa.
9. I downloaded the first season of Ed! Good show.
10. I miss Zack :(

Wednesday, May 26, 2010
Happy Wednesday!
I'm late! Let's get this show on the road.
1. What is your favorite piece of furniture in your house?
That brand new TV that's upstairs.
2.If it was raining so hard on a Saturday that you couldn’t leave your house, what would you spend the day doing?
You mean, what did I do on Saturday? I donno, clean I guess.
3. What was your favorite candy as a child?
CREAM SAVERS
4. Did you get an allowance? What was it based on? What did you do with it?
Yes I did, $7 a week for chores that I did. Later in life, my mom would give me money to write short stories.
5. Do you have a favorite Etsy store?
Does the whole website count? I love that site.
6. Do you prefer time with family or time with friends?
I prefer time with boyfriend.
7. Looney Tunes, Tiny Toons, or Animaniacs?
Looney Tunes if I HAD to choose. The other's annoy the hell out of me.
8. Best daytime talk show: Oprah, Ellen, The Doctors, Tyra, Dr. Oz, or Dr. Phil?
TYRA! SHE SO CRAZY!
9. Would you rather have the power of invisibility or the ability to fly?
Invisibility, I'm super nosy so that would come in handy...
10. Name 1 thing you love about being an adult.
FINALLY being able to look at the drink menu! Con: It's an extra menu and I have to decide fast haha.
~~~
In other news, I may have a job interview already lined up! I applied online to 24 Hour Fitness and he called asking to see me tomorrow.
"Here's the thing," I interjected, "I kind of live in Salt Lake City right now...but I will move on June 3. I was trying to be responsible and stuff..."
Digging through my closet, I realized I have no grown-up business clothes. I went to Old Navy (they're about what I can afford) and bought grown-up pants andsomeregularpeopleclothestoo.
Then, I went to Shop-Ko (Ugh) and Nordstrom Rack (UGH) and I couldn't find grown-up business shirts. I bought some clothes but I'm returning them today, for I am poor.
Lostuesday!
Here's your weekly 10.
1. If your name was a verb, what would "to Rebecca" mean?
Zack and I just had a moment like this, he was cutting open a fish packet thing and when I did it yesterday I was handling a knife dangerously but I eventually got it open. Today, he did it the proper way, not "Rebecca style." Not a verb...so I guess "to Rebecca" would mean to handle knives inappropriately.
2. What myth have you always wanted to prove or bust?
Superstitious stuff, like Ouija boards and saying Macbeth in a theater.
3. If you had the ability to get a message out to the entire world, what would you say?
"Play nice."
4. Please name your current top 10 blogs:
-Hyperbole and A Half
-OH NO THEY DIDN'T
-PostSecret
(Honestly, I follow a TON of blogs thanks to Google Reader, but I can't be bothered to list them all right now.)
5. Do you have a junk drawer?
I don't have a drawer :( But if I did, it would be oddly organized.
6. Bottled water or Tap?
I would rather die than drink tap water. I'm a bottled water snob.
7. As a kid, did you have a favorite Biblical story?
Seriously, the only ones I can really recall are of David and Goliath and Noah's Ark...
8. What is your favorite black and white movie?
Some Like It Hot. Total classic.
9. Aside from your engagement/wedding rings, what is your favorite piece of jewelry that you own? Do you have a story behind it?
I have two favorites. One is a lizard ring, my mom and I both have one. The second is a bracelet Zack bought for me in Washington.
10. What sports/activities do you hope your kids will be involved in (answer for both a boy and a girl)?
BASEBALL for my boy, probably dance for a girl. But baseball is a must. But they have to have extracurriculars, because I only had one in high school and I would have liked more.
Tuesday Ten!
I saw a few other blogs that do this too, but there are questions that are asked and I'm like, "what questions I just ramble on for ten bullet points." So, this week let me use questions.
1. What was your high school superlative? (If you didn't have one, what would it have been?)
At my high school they did Senior Predictions, kind of a Tee-Ball Award because everyone got them. Mine had something to do with writing for SNL about more cowbell or something like that.
2. What sports did you play in high school?
None, I was a ~drama kid~.
3. What was the best part about your wedding? (If you're not married yet, what are you most looking forward to?)
I was just thinking about this earlier. I'm not sure what I'm most looking forward to (probably the dress) but as I was looking through my friend's facebook pages at their wedding pictures, all of them at one point are bending down to talk to little girls. I hate this for several reasons. One, the impression I get is that these little girls are being programmed to think, "Yes, you too will marry a man!" Which I have nothing against, but come on. Two, you will not see me doing that at my wedding. I have no nieces or nephews, I honestly don't get along well with kids, and it's my day, it will not be ruined with me having to talk to kids I don't know.
4. It's your last meal--which Appetizer, Soup, Salad, Entree, and Dessert would you choose?
Whatever Applebee's latest special is. It's my last meal but doesn't mean I can't be thrifty.
Just kidding. But I know it would include a caesar salad.
5. What song is your guilty pleasure?
Anything Taylor Swift. Girl just makes me want to work out for some reason.
6. What is your favorite professional sports team, and why do you like them?
Uh...Salt City Derby Girls? Is that professional?
7. What is your favorite reality show and why do you like it?
I love The Amazing Race because I want to do it!!! I also like Biggest Loser. Does Craig Ferguson count as reality tv?
8. How would you describe your home decorating style (modern, classic, French countryside)?
I don't have a home. But I would like modern-classic.
9. Pizza-deep dish or thin crust? White sauce or red sauce? Toppings?
Deep dish red sauce pepperoni. Call me old fashioned.
10. Favorite weekend getaway within a two hour driving radius?
Uh Park City? Yeah.
Ta ta ta Tuezday
Here's another Tuesday thingy
1. It's been a week since my birthday. You know you usually don't feel older after your birthday? I feel soooo much older.
2. I have tickets for Iron Man 2 at midnight on Thursday in the IMAX! I'm so excited! Did I already talk about that? Oh well.
3. Since May has finally come (Or has it? It's been SNOWING UGH) I can finally start for real packing. Before I just had stuff put in boxes because I couldn't wait, but now I have to start figuring this stuff out.
4. Today I started a cleanse. Zack wants to go for 3 days, I want to go for 10. But I already really miss food.
5. I haven't been to the gym since before my California trip and I really miss it. I'm going back this afternoon.
6. My last final is tonight! Math. Now I can graduate to math classes that will actually earn me credit towards some kind of degree.
7. People need to stop doing weddingy stuff on Facebook. And posting about their babies. I feel like I have nothing to talk about when all I see are those posts.
8. I have a wonderful and amazing boyfriend.
9. We went to TGIFridays on Saturday for my birthday and we locked my keys in the car. I had just bought new heels and we had to walk to the store that was down a hill for a wire hanger. Zack broke into my car. Apparently he's done it before.
10. Here's the latest installment of Rebecca's Creativity. Drawings!
Tuesdee
- It's my birthday! I'm still so childish when it comes to my birthday. I can hardly sleep from excitement and then I get all high-pitched when something awesome happens. Like CUPCAKES! My mom buys me Mini's Cupcakes.
- Speaking of which, we went to the Bayou at midnight to celebrate! I feel like the world has opened it's doors to me. Doors in which I can waste more money.
- I have effectively effed up this numbering system. Below are some before and after pictures of my latest venture.
- I have been picking up Wayne's children, Alex and Katya, from Rowland Hall. They are so stinkin cute. And smart, apparently. Katya is supposedly a child genius.
- I set up an alert system so that the minute Iron Man 2 tickets went on sale for IMAX, I could get the best seats. But they went on sale when I was at Coachella so now I have second-best seats. STILL EXCITED THOUGH.
- hyperboleandahalf.blogspot.com
- Tonight I am going to see The Losers.
- Also, I am taking a final.
- Everyone is having babies.
- I have to go, sorry!
So I'm on some like, island vacation and MUSE is there right? And I'm at the show, of course, and I work my way backstage after totally show-flirting with Matt. Anyway, HE gives ME his number on a postcard.
I call. And he doesn't answer. But I'm still pretty excited because hey HE GAVE ME HIS NUMBER.
Blogger Challenge: Day 25
Day 25: Your day, in great detail.
Well let's see. I overslept and missed my chemistry class, and did some lounging around and used the opportunity to catch up on the shows I missed while in California.
I then decided to take a shower, possibly the worst decision of the day because I was shampooing my hair and hurt my neck (don't even ask). I had to cut my shower short because I felt like I was going to pass out. I took forever to do my hair because my neck limited my movement.
I then chatted with my dad (who got an iPhone--which remember, it's what I want for my birthday), and went over with Zack's. We had a relationship talk and got our frustrations out in the open. After the relieving talk, I went and got Chipotle for dinner. We then watched Lost, Bones, South Park, and Glee.
I came home, got ready for bed, and tried to find a comfortable position to sleep in.
